Country Universities Centre Goulburn has had lots of exciting milestones in the last month. CUC Goulburn concluded its first semester with 66 students registered for access to facilities at the centre. Students have been using the centre to access the high speed internet and the quiet space away from distractions of home.
Registered Nursing student Hannah Webster said
“CUC has been the best for my studies, it’s a great, welcoming, warm and clean environment that has limited distractions really allowing me to focus and strive for success in my degree”
In the second semester the centre will be running academic workshops to further support the students accessing the centre. The University of Canberra will be running workshops once a fortnight starting on the 16th of August.
Lara Doolette from Study Skills at the University of Canberra said
“In the drop-in sessions, I’ll be available for students to come in and get help with their study face to face. I can help with understanding and planning assignments, academic reading and writing skills, notetaking and referencing, as well as time-management and exam prep strategies.”
The first session, on the 16th of August from 3:30-4:30 will cover UC’s services and resources, Navigating online content in Canvas, Research tools, time management and semester planning.
CUC Goulburn is also seeking a tutor/teacher to add to the team to compliment the UC workshops in alternate weeks. Ash Jones said
“after semester one, it was highlighted that students need that extra layer of support. Having a person in the centre regularly who is dedicated to academia will be an amazing resource for our students”
All local students studying at an Australian university in the area are welcome to register to access the range of facilities on offer at CUC Goulburn.
